Wang Yuan, female, born in Funing, Jiangsu Province, professor and doctoral adviser, candidate of the national talent plan, National March-Eighth Red-Banner Pacesettera, has winned the Chinese Overseas Chinese (Innovative Talent) Contribution Award and the Gold Award of the Young Science and Technology Award of the Chinese Society of Rock Mechanics and Engineering, enjoys the special allowance of the State Council. She is currently the dean of the Water Conservancy and Hydropower College of Hohai University and the director of the Tunnel and Underground Engineering Research Institute. She is also the core member of the Discontinuous Deformation Committee of the International Society of Rock Mechanics, the executive director of the Chinese Society of Rock Mechanics and Engineering and the chairman of the Education Working Committee, the editorial board member of the Geotechnical Engineering News and other academic part-time positions, as well as the member of the CPPCC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, the member of the Central Committee of the Democratic League, the director of the Science and Technology Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Democratic HoHai University Committee of the Democratic League and other professional affiliation.

She graduated from Hohai University with a bachelor's degree in water conservancy and hydropower engineering construction in 1989, and received a master's degree in hydraulic engineering structure in 1989, followed by a master's degree and a doctoral degree in geotechnical engineering in 1995. She has been loaned to Tsinghua University in 1996 and joined the China Democratic League in 1998. From 2001 to 2002, she conducted postdoctoral research at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. She has worked in Delft Geotechnical Institute in the Netherlands, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in the United States and other research institutions as a visiting scholar. She was promoted to associate professor in 1998, professor in 2002, and doctoral supervisor qualification in 2003.She used to be served as the Assistant Director of the Institute of Geotechnical Engineering, the Deputy Director of the Institute of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, the Director of the Institute of Tunnel and Underground Engineering, the Deputy Dean of the School of Civil Engineering and Transportation, and the Dean of the School of Mechanics and Materials of Hohai University.

Wang is in charge of the administrative work of the college, responsible for development planning, discipline construction, personnel, teaching staff, finance, international cooperation and exchange.
