On the morning of February 22, 2026, Professor Shi Genhua, a renowned international mathematical mechanist, visited our university at the invitation of Professor Wang Yuan and delivered an academic report titled Forward Engineering Stability Analysis and Reverse Engineering Stability Analysis Based on the Numerical Manifold Method and Contact Theory..
Professor Shi Genhua systematically elaborated on the numerical manifold method and contact theory, detailing the derivation and computational methods of unified formulas based on submatrices. He emphasized that the application of artificial intelligence in engineering computations must adhere to physical laws, geometric principles, and mathematical rules, while also exploring pathways for the efficient integration of AI technology with the numerical manifold method. Additionally, he proposed five forward-looking criteria that the next generation of engineering computations should meet, guiding the research direction in related fields. After the presentation, Professor Shi provided guidance to master's and doctoral students engaged in related research and interacted with the attending faculty and students, creating a vibrant academic atmosphere on-site.
This academic lecture focuses on the numerical manifold method and contact theory, as well as their applications. It is of great significance for our faculty and students to grasp the forefront of numerical computing and enhance their research capabilities. It will also promote the dissemination and application of advanced computational mechanics methods in the field of hydraulics.
